Makes about 6 dozens cookies
1/2 cup margarine, softened
1/2 cup shortening
3/4 cup packed dark brown sugar
1 teaspoon vanilla
2 eggs
2 1/4 cups unsifted all-purpose flour
1 teaspoon baking soda
1/4 teaspoon salt
2 cups semi-sweet chocolate chips
1 cup chopped pecans (optional)
Whip butter, shortening, sugars and vanilla in mixer until light and fluffy. Add to mixture eggs, beat well. Combine flour, baking soda and salt; add to cream mixture. Mix well and slow. Stir in chocolate chips and nuts. Drop by teaspoon onto ungreased cookie sheet. Bake at 375 degrees F. for about 10 minutes or until lightly brown. Let stand about 1 minute before removing from cookie sheet; cool on wire rack or paper towels. Great cookie to eat while warm.
