Makes 5 dozen cookies

2 cups flour
1 1/2 teaspoons baking powder
2/3 cup butter
1 cup brown sugar
1 egg
1 teaspoon vanilla
1/4 teaspoon almond extract
Almonds for decorating

Sift flour and baking powder together. Cream butter; add sugar and mix well; add egg and beat thoroughly. Add vanilla and almond flavoring. Stir in the flour. Take pieces of dough the size of a golf ball and roll in palms of the hands. Place on cookie sheet, and press half an almond in the center of each. Bake at 400 degrees F. for 8-10 minutes.
