1 1/2 cups powdered sugar
1 cup margarine, softened
1 egg
1 (9 oz.) package non such condensed mincemeat, crumbled
1 teaspoon vanilla
2 1/2 cups flour
1 teaspoon baking soda
1 teaspoon cream of tarter

Vanilla Icing:

1 table spoon shortening
1 table spoon butter
3/4 teaspoon salt
2 cups sifted powdered sugar
3 table spoons scaled milk

Cooking Instructions

Preheat oven to 375 degrees. Beat powdered sugar and margarine in large bowl on medium speed, scraping bowl frequently, until light and fluffy. Beat in egg. Mix in mincemeat and vanilla. Stir in remaining ingredients (dough will be stiff). Shape dough into 1 1/4 inch balls. Place on ungreased cookie sheet about 2 inches apart; flatten slightly. Bake until light brown, 10-12 minutes.

For icing combine shortening, butter, and salt; mix. Add powdered sugar and scalded milk. Beat until smooth. Ice cookies when cookies are cool.
