Makes 5 dozen cookies
1 cup butter or margarine
1 cup powdered sugar
2 eggs
1 teaspoon cream of tarter
1 teaspoon vanilla
1 cup shortening
1 cup sugar
4 1/2 - 5 cups flour
1 teaspoon baking soda
Cream butter and shortening, add both sugars. Add eggs. Beat well. Add flour with cream of tarter and baking soda. Add vanilla. Mix well. Roll into balls; sprinkle with sugar. Flatten with glass or refrigerate for a few hours to make cutouts. Bake at 350 degrees for 8-10 minutes.
